The Tennessee Polled Hereford Association was formed in 1945, the Volunteer Hereford Association was formed in 1952. Each was formed for the purpose of promoting their breeds in state and regional shows and sales. This resulted in annual show/sales and events that provided breeders and new comers alike the opportunity to stay up-to-date on Hereford genetics and provide the best breeding stock available as well as contributing to and influencing the genetic emphasis of trait development. With the merger of the national organization, the two Tennessee organizations started talking about merging in 2013. This merger was voted on and completed in March of 2014 and the two organizations move forward as one. This will only improve the size and quality of the membership as well as strengthen an already vibrant association whose main goal is to provide the best Hereford cattle possible.
